Martian Analogues in the Canadian Rocky Mountains Tour

Tuesday July 3, 2018, 07:30 – 20:00.

Can’t afford a trip to Mars this year?  Try the next best thing and participate in a one-day exploration of the Canadian Rocky Mountains in Banff National Park.  With spectacular scenery as the backdrop, we’ll investigate glacial and periglacial landforms as seen along the Banff – Jasper Icefields Parkway.  Together with geomorphology experts, we will look at these Earthly terrains as terrestrial analogues to Martian ones — shedding light on the surface conditions and processes on Mars.

This full-day trip includes bus transportation, lunch and a detailed guidebook.  Bring sturdy shoes (no strenuous hiking required), rain gear and, of course, your camera!  Note that this trip does NOT include a visit to the Banff town site nor to the famous natural hot springs, so make plans to visit these attractions on your vacation!
