Bus departs Hotel Alma for RAO at 17:30pm. Visit one of Canada’s three 1.8 m class telescopes during this evening tour. This unusual telescope features a space-saving alt-alt mount. Also see the three remotely operational telescopes; 3.3 m HI spectrometer radio telescope, and the 0.5 m Baker-Nunn and 0.4 m Clark-Milone telescopes.
Visitors will be regaled by the University of Calgary’s Indigenous performers who will offer traditional songs of welcome and nature.
The Sun will be up during the tour, thus offering a chance to do solar observing with RAO and Calgary Centre telescopes (or bring your own if you like!).
Your bus ride to the RAO and back to campus, BBQ food and drinks, tour, and unique First Nations musical performance, is provided free of charge by the Department of Physics and Astronomy of the University of Calgary.
Transportation will be provided by bus from Hotel Alma. Buses will depart Hotel Alma on Thursday June 28th at (Loading at 17:15 hrs) 17:30 hrs MDT and leave the observatory to return at 21:00 hrs MDT arriving at Hotel Alma at 21:45 hrs MDT.
